Bridge of Don Thistle stretch their lead in the North Region Junior Premier League to four points with a 0-2 win over local rivals Hermes F.C. Scott Milne’s first half header and Fisola Onafeko’s late second were enough for the points in a feisty encounter at Lochside Park.

Hermes started brightly with Keith Horne looking dangerous down the left wing.

Bridge of Don Thistle quickly settled in and a tightly contested opening half hour ensued with no shots on goal.

A double spill from Hermes keeper Jacob Otto almost allowed Bridge of Don Thistle to take the lead on the 37th minute, and the away side would find the net with their next attack.

The visitors won an enticing freekick with captain Liam Burnett delivering a fine cross for Milne to nod home from within the 6-yard box on the 42nd minute.

Into the second half and tempers were reaching boiling point, with referee James Coull letting most niggles slide.

Bridge of Don Thistle pushed for a second, with Adam Joji causing bother for the tiring Hermes backline.

The final 10 minutes saw an all-out attacking attempt from Hermes, but the visitors were resolute and looked dangerous on the counter.

In the end Bridge of Don Thistle were too much for a Hermes, grabbing a late second through substitute Fisola Onafeko to seal the deal in the 91st minute.
