Stonehaven FC kicked off the McBookie Premier League tie at Ian Mair Park and created the first few moments of pressure. In the third minute, Dyce winger Daniel Agnew played a neat one-two with forward Jack Walker, before neatly chipping the ball over the head of stranded Stonehaven keeper Reece Duncan and into the top right corner, giving the hosts an early lead. Stonehaven grew into the game and manged periods of possession in the Dyce half, resulting in a Cameron Beatie strike, which was well saved by Dyce keeper Morgan Cook. A very even first have proceeded the early excitement, with neither team able to test the keepers. Nazam Abdulkarim and Kyle Douglas kept steady in the Dyce midfield and limited Stonehaven chances.

The second half started with chances for Dyce, falling to captain Craig Mackie and Agnew, who both blazed their shots over the bar. A first yellow from referee Owen Lawrence was awarded to Dyce left back Scott Robertson. Substitution for both teams maintained high energy levels in a physical second forty-five. The best chance of the second half fell to Dyce striker Gavin Byers, who was played through on goal after a defensive mix-up. Byers attempted the second chip of the game, but his effort curled away from the goal, narrowly missing the chance to double Dyce’s lead. Stonehaven were unable to find a way past a strong Dyce backline, and the hosts were able to comfortably see the game out. The result lifts Dyce to second in the table, and Stonehaven stay ninth.
